Generate a random flower, from garden classics to wild and tropical blooms, for planting inspiration, worldbuilding, or learning something new.
A flower is the reproductive structure of a flowering plant, and every part of it serves that function: petals advertise, stamens produce pollen, and the carpel receives it and develops into fruit. Colour, scent and nectar are aimed at specific pollinators, so red tubular flowers suit birds, pale night-scented ones suit moths, and some orchids mimic female insects closely enough to be mated with. Flowering plants appeared roughly 140 million years ago and now account for about 90% of all land plant species, a spread Darwin called an abominable mystery. Wind-pollinated flowers like grasses are drab and scentless, because there is no one to impress.
This generator draws from a curated list of real flower species across five familiar categories -- Garden Flowers, Wildflowers, Tropical Flowers, Bulb Flowers, and Flowering Shrubs & Vines -- from everyday backyard favorites to flowers most people have never heard of.
Every result here is drawn using crypto.getRandomValues() -- the Web Crypto API's cryptographically secure randomness -- instead of Math.random(), so it's genuinely unpredictable, not just statistically random. Learn more.
Gardeners and florists use it to spark an idea for a new bed, bouquet, or planting plan. Writers and game designers use it to name a magic item, a character's garden, or a fantasy setting's local flora. It's also a quick way to learn something new about botany, pick a birth-month flower, or settle on a bloom-themed name for a project, pet, or character.
Generate draws one flower at random from the full pool using the site's cryptographically secure randomness, guaranteed not to repeat whatever result is currently showing in single-result mode. Filtering by category narrows the pool before drawing, and each single result comes with a short description of the flower alongside its name.

All entries are real flower species, including their descriptions -- nothing here is invented.
Yes -- use the filter button to pick one or more of the five categories. Generate will then only draw from flowers in the categories you've selected.
Not in single-result mode -- each new roll is guaranteed to differ from the one currently on screen.
Both -- familiar favorites like roses, tulips, and sunflowers sit in the pool alongside rarer and more obscure species.
