This generator draws from a curated list of 244 real insect species across twelve orders and groupings -- beetles, butterflies and moths, bees wasps and ants, flies, true bugs, grasshoppers and crickets, dragonflies, cockroaches and termites, mantises, stick and leaf insects, aquatic insects, and parasitic insects like fleas and lice.
Every result here is drawn using crypto.getRandomValues() -- the Web Crypto API's cryptographically secure randomness -- instead of Math.random(), so it's genuinely unpredictable, not just statistically random. Learn more.

Generate draws one species at random from the full 244-entry pool using the site's cryptographically secure randomness, guaranteed not to repeat whatever result is currently showing in single-result mode. Filtering by order narrows the pool to just that group before drawing, and multi-result draws avoid duplicates until the (filtered) pool is exhausted.
