Generate a random speedrun or self-imposed challenge from 107 -- each with what the rule means and how it changes the game.
A speedrun is an attempt to finish a game as fast as possible, under a category -- a shared set of rules that makes one runner's time comparable to another's. Any% allows anything, including glitches; 100% requires full completion; Glitchless bans exploits. Beyond the timed categories sit self-imposed challenge runs, which are less about speed than about making a familiar game unfamiliar: no damage taken, no upgrades collected, a single weapon for the whole game. Both exist for the same reason -- a finished game has usually not been exhausted, only completed.
This generator draws from 107 speedrun categories and self-imposed challenges across six types -- Classic Categories, Restriction Runs, Silly & Creative, Route & Knowledge, Multiplayer & Community, and Longform Challenges. Each result explains what the rule actually means and why runners find it interesting, from Low% being harder than 100% to the runners who complete games blindfolded.
Every result here is drawn using crypto.getRandomValues() -- the Web Crypto API's cryptographically secure randomness -- instead of Math.random(), so it's genuinely unpredictable, not just statistically random. Learn more.
Find a reason to replay a game you already finished, pick a challenge for a stream, add a restriction to a game that has become too easy, or work out which category to submit your first run in. The Longform filter is for projects measured in months rather than evenings.
Generate draws one challenge at random using the site's cryptographically secure randomness, never repeating the challenge currently shown in single-result mode. Each result explains the rule and its effect on play, and the Type filter narrows from standard categories to the deliberately absurd.
A sample of what this generator can draw, spread evenly across the full list:
Finish the game by any means available, including glitches and sequence breaks, with no requirement to collect anything. It is usually the fastest category and often looks nothing like normal play.
Pick a game you already know, run an Individual Level or a short category, and time yourself with a free split tracker. Submit the run even if it is slow -- most leaderboards have plenty of room, and the first submission is the hard one.
Frequently, yes. 100% takes longer, but Low% means fighting late-game bosses with early-game resources, which is a different kind of difficulty entirely.
