This generator imagines 100 one-line dystopia premises across five failure modes -- Surveillance & Control, Tech & AI, Corporate & Consumer, Environment & Scarcity, and the Social & Strange tier where birthdays are redistributed for equity. Each draw is a complete worldbuilding seed in a sentence.

Every result here is drawn using crypto.getRandomValues() -- the Web Crypto API's cryptographically secure randomness -- instead of Math.random(), so it's genuinely unpredictable, not just statistically random. Learn more.

How do I turn a one-line premise into a story?

Ask who benefits, who suffers, and who's paid to keep it running -- your protagonist is usually the third one. The premise is the world; the story is the day the protagonist stops cooperating.

Why are some of these funny?

Satire is dystopia's oldest dialect -- absurdity smuggles the critique past the reader's defenses. If 'the last public park charges admission in childhood memories' makes you laugh and then wince, it's working.
